Good news!
OUR NEW cycling INITIATIVE takes oFF!

Picture
We have sent 12 bicycles to allow children to learn to cycle as a pilot project, in addition to spare kits and equipment, to set up our first bike station. The Bicycles arrived on the 23rd of July and we just can't tell you how delighted the children were!
Our wonderful volunteers helped with assembling the bikes, testing them and assisting with free lessons for both boys and girls.
Some of the events captured on photos you can see below.

The Green Bicycle project (as we like to call it) is a new initiative to support children, help the environment and aid the local economy.

We have the children's future in mind and our intention is to make a positive difference to their lives through improving their welfare and mental & physical wellbeing.

Great enthusiasm for cycling, everyone looks very happy!
We are very pleased that the number of girls participating in our sporting project continues to rise, this has encouraged us to explore more ways to get everyone involved.

With our Green Bicycle project we are introducing the kids at Yida camp to cycling, offering many young girls an opportunity to enjoy cycling and hopefully use their new skills to get them out and about and ease the troubles of travelling long distances every day to collect water from wells.

Many of those girls have to do twice daily (or more) long trips to fetch water and carry heavy Jerrycans on their heads. We hope to provide paniers for each bicycle (eventually hopefuly bicycle trailers too) to help them in carrying water and other supplies.
Learning to ride a bicycle will greatly assist them.
